MEETING OF ASSOCIATION CONVERSATION IN DIALECT Memories of Cornwall are kept alive at the monthly meetings of, the Auckland Cornish Association, which are egul X ow market There was an attendance of 150 members and friends at the meeting on Tuesday evening, for which an enjoyable musical programme had been arranged by Miss Row*-'. Among the items was a Cornish p«.»etn in dialect, “The Boiler and the Cabbage.” given by Mrs. W. Hughes. Others who contributed to the programme were Mrs. Rattray and Mr. S Miss Sullivan and Miss Turner, elocutionary items. Papers were read on “The Loveliest Seaside Place in Cornwall. by Airs. W. G. Tucker, and “Fowey” and ‘‘Mousehole,” by Mr G. F Williams. Mr. F Clok reel of his own compositions. “The City of Auckland.” and the president. Mr. .7. W. Cocks, told humorous Cornish stories and anecdotes. During the evening conversation was carried on in the Cornish dialect, while the younger folk danced. In his remarks the president spoke of the death of the oldest Cornish person in the Dominion. Mrs. Ormiston. of Oneliunga. It was decided to send a letter of congratulation to Mr. and Mrs F. Tonkin, of Phillips Street. Ponsonbv, on the occasion of their diamond wedding. They have always displaved great interest in the affairs of the Cornish Association.
