ART OF FORWARD PLAY

“LOST TO DOMINION RUGBY,” SAYS EX-ALL BLACK EASY TASX FOR ENGLAND Special to THE SUN NEW PLYMOUTH, Today. "The English Rugby touring team will* rake New Zealand fore and aft because New Zealand has lost the art of°forward' play.” This opinion was expressed by Charlie Brown. Taranaki and New Zealand player, at the annual meeting of the Tukapa Football Club last evening. "There is a chance for Taranaki to wake up,” said Brown. He urged uniformity of Rugby coaching with a reversion to the old style of forward 'play. Lately football had been slipping back, in his opinion, due largely to the new* rules The forwards were not taught to play as forwards, but were encouraged to join in with the backs. This new style of opening up play was detrimental, as they would see when the English team arrived. It- was recommended to the Taranaki Rugby Union that the coaches confer and adopt a standard for the province.
