The swimming carnival held under the auspices of the Te Awamutu District High School took place at the Te Awamutu baths on Wednesday afternoon. There was a good attendance of pupils and parents. The various events were keenly contested, and some close finishes resulted. Following were successful : Primary Championship, Boys, 50yds.— J. Mensforth, 1; R. Burns, 2. . Girls, 33 l~3yds.—Joan Smedley, 1; Daphne Harford, 2. Secondary Championship.—Geo. Dalton, 1; Jim Smith, 2; T.' Shepherd, 3Girls.—Betty Manson, 1; Phyllis Chunn, 2. Primary Championship, 10.0yds.—Jack Mensforth, 1; Rod Renton, 2; J. Morrison, 3. Won easily. Time, 1.42. Secondary Championship.—Geo. Dalton, 1; Jim Smith, 2; TuL Shepherd, 3. An easy win. Pupils.—Staff won a keen contest by a narrow margin. The -staff team was Edge, - Brewer, .101 l and Miss P. McCarroll; the pupils’ team was Mensforth, Dalton, Burns and T. Shepherd.
