NEW REGENT
“THEIR OWN DESIRE” The current programme at the New Regent Theatre will have its final presentation there this evening. This includes "The Hollywood Revue," the spectacular review which introduces many famous Hollywood stars, together with the accompanying items. Possibly the best news that Auckland movie-goers have heard in a long while is the announcement that Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer’s newest alltalking , picture for Norma Shearer, “Their Own Desire," will be shown tomorrow at the Regent Theatre. In choosing the supporting cast, the producing company left no loophole for mediocrity, the group being headed by such prominent
film players as Lewis Stone, Belle Bennett, Robert Montgomery and H e I e n e Millard, While Cecile Cunningham, Henry Herbert, M ary Doran and June Nash fill the* minor roles. "Their Own Desire" has as its motivation a modn daughter’s dis-
covery that her father has tired other old-fashioned mother and is enamoured of another woman. Seeking peace from domestic strife, she takes her mother away, only to meet and fall in love with the son of the "other woman." People who were fortunate enough to see the preview of "Their Own Desire" are unanimous in their opinion that it is a worthy successor to Miss Shearer’s two most recent hits, "The Last of Mrs. Cheyney" and "The Trial of Mary Dugan.” A particularly’ fine supporting pro--1 gramme will also be presented tomorrow.
