GALLI-CURCI
New Zealand Tour Next Year PLANS UNDER WAY Negotiations for a tour of Australia and New Zealand by Mme. Galli Curci are under way, states an American musical publication. At p-esent it is thought that the tour will commence in the early part of 1931. It is not stated under which management the tour will be conducted. In the meantime Amelita GalliGurci has severed her connection ■with the Metropolitan Opera at New "York in order to devote herself en-
tirely to concert work. Next year would have been her tenth with the Metropolitan; but having obtained a release from her contract Mme. Oalli-Curei left the company at the close of her present engagement. She sailed for Europe on February 7 for an extensive tour of that territory, returning to America in June. Her second concert tour of England will commence about October, after which she will undertake an American tour before setting sail for these shores. Although New Zealand has not been particularly kind to big artists in the past, Galli-Curci’s-great popularity as a recording artist should guarantee her big houses even in New Zealand.
