RESCUED FROM SEA
NON-SWIMMER’S PLIGHT IN SWAMPED PUNT TAKAPUNA ADVENTURE Unable to swim. Mr Thomas Holbrook was in a dangerous predicament when his punt sank beneath him 100 yards off Takapuna Beach yesterday morning. He was brought to shore by Mr. Stuart Boland, a member of the Takapuna Life Saving Club, who was on patrol duty. Mr. Holbrook, who was punting opposite the Takapuna reef which runs out off the promenade, signalled for assistance when his craft sank. Mr. Boland swam out from the beach and instructing Mr. Holbrook to re main in his swamped boat and balance it lie towed the heavy weight to the reef, a distance of 100 yards* At last evening's meeting of the Takapuna Borough Council reference was made to Mr. Boland's action ir effecting, single-handed, a difficult lescue.
