LOW WHEAT LEVEL
COLLAPSE AVERTED Reed. 10 a.m. WINNIPEG, Wed. Wheat broke on Wednesday to the lowest level in six years. May cargoes sold only 1 k cents above the dollar, but closed at 1 dollar 4 3-8 cents. Cash wheat reached 98 3-8 cents. MARKET RECOVERING Strong support, credited to the Farm Board and Eastern interests, brought the market back on a ‘fairly even keel when, it appeared that wheat prices were heading for a collapse. A majority of the losses sustained early in the session- were recovered before the close-out, but before the reaction set in July and September futures hit new low levels for the season. Wheat closed March, 1 dollar 51 cents;' May, 1 dollar 911 cents; July, 1 dollar 3 5-8 cents; September, 1 dollar 5 1-8 cents. A message from Washington says Senator Brookhart, Republican member for lowa, on Wednesday called upon the United States Farm Board to co-operate with the Canadian YVheat Pool in opposition of Britain, France and Italy. Pie believed a combination of the three European nations against the United States wheat growers was in operation.
