"HER FEET BENEATH HER PETTICOAT..”
SIMPLE RULES FOR DAINTINESS Making a large or medium-size foot look dainty is largely a matter of choosing the right footwear. If you have a short, broad foot, it will look smaller and more attractive in a pointed shoe that is a little too large than it will in a short, rounded shoe that fits exactly. You can always press a little cotton wool into the toe. Stockings in a lighter colour than the shoes make the feet appear much smaller than do stockings in the same colour. Women with fairly .large feet should not indulge in shoes fashioned of canvas, or those made partly of leather and partly of cloth. To reduce the apparent size of the feet, maize or champague-coloured stockings worn with patent-leather shoes usually prove the happiest choice. Brown suede shoes and molecoloured hose form another good blending. Heels in a different colour from the shoes will also help to reduce the apparent size of the feet. In the ballroom, shoes with gold or silver heels give pleasing daintiness even to large feet. Another helpful accessory is the buckle on the instep. Shoes so decorated will make flat feet look normal and will likewise improve the appearance of too prominent ankles.
