RETIRING TEACHERS
SOCIAL AT ONEHUNGA A pleasant social evening was held in the Onehunga Methodist Sunday School last evening, when Mr. A. J. Pople, an ex-superintendent, on behalf of tho teachers of the school, presented gifts to Miss M. E. Carver and Mrs. M. G. Wigmore, who were retiring after many years* service. Beautiful bouquets were presented by the Misses Norma and Eris Pople. Miss Carver has acted as a teacher for 27 years and before retiring was teaching the second generation. She received a clock, fountain pen, eversharp pencil and books. Mrs. Wigmore, who held the position of primary leader, was presented with a copper fireside set, a gift from parents and teachers. Musical and elocutionary items were given by Misses Batchelor, Gower and Osborno and Messrs. Mac Skimming and Pople. Tho Rev. F. E. Leadley, minister, presided.
