EPSOM TOPICS WORK ON THE TRACK PREPARING FOR THAMES Lady Yvonne is still doing her work in patchy fashion. Some days she goes well enough to suggest an early win. but on other occasions she tangles badly. Speed King is among the entrants for Thames. The Our Thorpe gliding still has. a big leg, but his patient owner-trainer has a bigger heart. * * * The erratic Delavan Bill, who is now under the care of S. August at Mangere, is said to be shaping well in liis work. He will be started in the saddle heat at Thames. Wakahihi. the 17-hands high son of Worthy Bond, is going along steadily for Li. McMahon. On the straight* he paces boldly, but does not handle the turns with confidence. One of tire most stylish youngsters seen at Epsom lor some time is the 16-month-old filly by Metal, from Coal Light. This filly is being handled by K. Morrison and for a baby conducts herself in a pleasing manner. * * * Polly's Picture is the latest addition to R. Julian’s Green Lane stable. The chestnut mare is still showing signs of soreness and so far has not been stepped out on the track. Of the 23 entrants for the Thame* Cup Richore is the only one which is not trained in Auckland district. The Hawera pacer is racing at the Palmerston North and Hawke’s Bny meetings this week. Bert is keeping Glandore going in view of a visit to the Thame* fixture. Although the roan has been a bad proposition for a long time he ran a sound race when seen out at the Otahuhu meeting. L. McMahon has taken Holioro up and he is working as if he intended to make amends for; past failures. Ho may be tried over a two-mile journey at one of the country meetings/ * * * W. Cockbill >s getting Rosie Thorp© into racing trim and she is showing improved form in her latest track work.' Rosie will be taken to Thame* where the saddle event may be her mission. The Gold Bell gelding Goldman is being jogged on his owner’s private track at Penrose. The chestnut i» sore, and if the tracks are hard ho will be a non-starter at the Thames meeting. Jewel Pointer (L. Laver) conceded Native Prince (J. Shaw) 1: yds, and the latter gave Warplane (R. Low) 60yds in a mile and a-half flutter. At the finish, all three were on terms. Benefice was sent along at a good bat for a mile. The Rey de CfPo mar© is being prepared by Ken Morrison for the Thames fixture. Carmel was not asked to break any records. The Our Thorpe gelding was sent over a two-mile journey in 5.5. * * • The Man-o’-War gelding Wa'-spite is being prepared on the farm at Henderson for the Thames fixture. Wiriwliata (J. Cockle) and Nelson Girl (A. Julian) were sen: over a mile and a-half journey at a sound clip. Wiriwhata put in one bad break, but otherwise trotted all right. Other horses that were seen out at Epsom before breakfast were Gold Treasure, Explosion, Arachne, Roland, and Idle Girl. They were a I given strong jogging. * * * Trainer J. Shaw leaves today with Arachne and Roland to fulfil engagements at the Hawke’s Bay fixture on Saturday and Monday.
