From Our Own Correspondent p MORRINSVILLE, Tuesday. At yesterday’s meeting of the Mor- ; rinsville Chamber of Commerce a ; resolution was passed expressing the | chamber’s appreciation of the services rendered to the town by the retiring j town clerk, Mr. C. H. McKay, who is j shortly leaving to take up his residence 'at Queenstown. Members eulogised | the work done by the clerk over a j period of nine years, A subsidy of £l5O has been promised j a deputation of Tahuna settlers, j Messrs. R. J. Jones and J. P. Jenson, | for making a road running througn j their properties. The subsidy will be |.on a £1 to £2 basis. The settlers will thus have to find £3OO in all. * Advantage has been taken of the ; subsidy offered by the Education Department and swimming baths have been erected in the school grounds at Wardville. The official opening ceremony will be performed this week by Mr. C. E. Macmillan. M.P. The rooms at Waharoa which have been run as a Y.M.C.A. branch since 1922 have been efiosed owing to support being insufficient to warrant the employment of a caretaker.
