DEMONSTRATION BY YOUNG CONGREGATIONALISTS CONFERENCE CONTINUES A series of presentations of miw sionary activities was gi-ven last even* ing by children from the; Congrega* tional Churches in Auckland in conjunction with the annual conference of the Congregational; Union of New Zealand, which will conclude tomorrow evening. The missionary demonstration was given on behalf of the; London Missionary Society, the moderator of the assembly, the Rev. H. Johnson, presiding over a large attendance. Addressing the children, the chairman exhorted them to be proud of their Church which was the Church that had inspired Cromwell, Milton, Bunyan, Blake, Leonard Bacon, whose phamplet against slavery had urged Abraham Lincoln to action, John Howard, the prison reformer, and many other notable men The London Missionary Society had been the first, to send missionaries to New Zealand, the Pacific Islands, South and Central Africa and China. An interesting address on “NeW | Worlds For Old” was given by * be Rev. H. W. Newell, a missionary from India. Tlu* speaker said the world was undergoing vast changes and b® referred especially to India. There, h® said, the influence of Western civ*isation was reflected in many directions.
