PERSONAL.— Mr. W. J. Hill has relieved Mr. S. C. Angus, chief officer of the Kahika, for holidays. .Mr. G. M. Schofield, second officer of the Ngatoro, is on holidays at Dunedin, and Mr. H. S. Collier, chief officer of the Waikawa, is on holidays at Auckland. Mr. P. Morrison has joined the Komata as chief engineer, relieving Mr. J. G. Bannatyne for holiday leave. Mr. W. S. McLean, late second engineer of the Hauraki, has resigned to take up a shore position. He has been succeeded by Mr. R. Gardner. Mr. W. J. Morrison has joined the Waitemata as third engineer, relieving Mr J. Berryman for holidays. NEW UNION CHARTER. —The Union Company has chartered the English tanker British Star to load fuel-oil at San Pedro for Miramar on April 20, under a single trip charter. KENT AT LONDON.— The Federal Bine steamer Kent is reported to have reached London from New Zealand on Sunday. She was dispatched from Picton on January 30. CHILOIL AT WELLINGTON.— With 6,000 tons.of fuel-oil the Union Company’s chartered tanker Chiloil arrived at Wellington on Saturday afternoon from San Pedro and berthed at the Miramar Wharf to discharge. THE KARAMEa. —The Shaw, Savill and Albion Company advises that the motor-ship Karamea was fixed to leave Wellington at noon today for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. KENT REPLACES CORNWALL. —The Federal Company advises that the Kent is now scheduled to leave Liverpool on April 26 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff, in place 'of the Cornwall. ULIMAROA REACHES SYDNEY.— The Huddart-Parker passenger steamer Ulimaroa, which left Welington on Friday last tor Sydney, arrived there early this morning. She leaves Sydney for Auckland on Friday afternoon next. RONA LEAVES TOMORROW. —The Colonial Sugar Refining Company’s steamer Rona is expected to complete discnarge of her raw sugar from Suva tomorrow afternoon. Tne local agents, Watkin and Wallis, expect to dispatch her the same night for Sydney. THE CUMBERLAND. —Loading under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, the Federal Dine steamer Cumberland arrived at- Wellington on Saturday evening from Napier. She is to be dispatched from that port on March 13 for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool, and Glasgow, via the Panama Canal. PORT BRISBANE LOADING.— The C. and D. Line steamer port Brisbane arrived at Napier on Sunday from New Plymouth for further loading. She later proceeds to Wellington and Lyttelton to nil up, and will sail finally from Lyttelton on March 22 for London and Hamburg, via Montevideo. ROTORUA LOADING.— The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rotorua, which has been loading for London at Queen’s Wharf, *was scheduled to sail at 2 o'clock this afternoon for Wellington. The vessel is scheduled to sail finally from the capital on March 15 with passengers and cargo for Southampton and London. MAUI POMARE’S PASSENGERS. THE KAIMIRO. —Advice received from the Union Steam Ship Company states that the cargo steamer Kaimiro is scheduled to leave Wellington at 11 p.m. this day for Picton and Auckland in continuation of her voyage from Adelaide, Edithburg, Wallaroo and Plobart. PAKEHA REPORTS. —A. S. Paterson and Co. lias received a wireless message from the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company’s steamer Pakeha stating that she expects to arrive in port from Antwerp a.m. Saturday. The vessel has a full cargo of basic slag for discharge at Auckland. MAKURA AT WELLINGTON. —The Royal Mail liner Makura from San Francisco, Papeete, and Rarotonga, berthed at Wellington at 8.30 a.m. yesterday to land passengers, mail and cargo for New Zealand. She is to resume her voyage to Sydney this afternoon. AO RAN Gl FOR VANCOUVER. —The Union Steam Ship Company’s Royal Alail motor-liner Aorangi is announced to sail for Vancouver, via Suva, Honolulu and Victoria at 3 o'clock this afternoon, hut it will probably be considerably later before she gets away. The vessel is berthed at Prince’s Wharf. RADIO FROM CORiNTHIC. Inward bound from London and Southampton, the White Star liner Corinthic has sent radio advice that she expects to arrive in the stream at Auckland at midnight on Saturday. The vessel has passengers for New Zealand and cargo for discharge at Auckland and Wellington. L. D. Nathan and Co. is her local agent. SOUTHERN CROSS AND KORUA UNDOCK. The Alelanesian Alission steamer Southern Cross and the Gisborne dredge Korua undocked this morning. The Southern Cross went to King’s v\ harf *to prepare for her next month's trip to Alelanesian mission stations, and the Korua went to Western Wharf to complete overhaul. The Southern Cross m scheduled to leave Auckland on April TUTANEKAI ARRIVES. —The Government maintenance steamer Tutanekai arrived at Auckland at 10.30 o’clock this morning from East Coast lighthouses. She berthed at Queen’s Wharf Her last berth was at Wellington, since which she has been servicing the lighthouses up the East Coast. Captain Burgess retains command, and reports an uneventful fine-weather trip a’l the wav . The Tutanekai is to leave for the Hauraki Gulf on Thursday.

MAUNGANUI AT WELLINGTON.— The Union Steam Ship Company’s intercolonial passenger steamer Maunganui arrived at Wellington from Sydney at 7 o’clock this morning with passengers, mails and cargo. The vessel is to sail from the capital on her return trip to Sydney on Friday afternoon next. THE NEW ANGLO-AFRICAN—Alessrs. Lawther, Latta and Company’s new steamer Anglo-African arrived at Port Birie recently from the Tyne on her maiden voyage. Built for Short Bros., Ltd.. Sunderland, and intended for the service of the Nitrate Producers Steamship Co., Ltd., London, the vessel has been constructed under special survey to Lloyd’s Register’s highest class. She is 426 ft. in length between perpendiculars, with a beam of 58ft., and has a deadweight carrying capacity of about 10,000 tons on a moderate draught. The latest type of equipment has been provided for dealing with all classes of cargo, including grain in bulk. A ‘‘'Star” contra rudder has been fitted. The propelling machinery has been supplied by the North-Eastern Afarine Engineering Co., Ltd., Wallsend, and consists of quadruple expanson engines taking steam from three large, boilers fitted with super-heat-ers, and working under Howden’s forced draught. On her trial trip she averaged 12 knots.
