Cards were enjoyed until the supper interval, after which dancing was carried on. Mrs. Thompson was successful in the 500 tournament, Mr. J. Martin taking the gentleman’s prize. The evening was the first of a series. Mrs. Nial, an annual visitor to Rotorua, landed a 12-pounder trout at Okataina on Sunday, the fish being in fine condition. The party had embarked minus a net or gaff and great difficulty was experienced in landing the catch on the launch. • • * Mr. G. L. Park, officer in charge of the Guthrie settlement development scheme, reports that 50 men are now working on the Whirinoki access road and 50 on the main Atiamuri Road.
