RIFLE SHOOTING
AUCKLAND CITY CLUB Members of the City Rifle Club again registered some good performances cn Saturday at 800 and 900 yards. Weather conditions on the whole were good, but some of the competitors wer'e unfortunate in having an “unlucky patch” which spoilt their chances of a high score. The 94’s registered by Simmonds, Spry and Robertson were meritorious under any conditions. Pring’s “possible” at 800 is unusual for Penrose range but with H. J. Verrall who scored a good 48 he fell away at the longer range.
The following are the results: H. Simmonds, 47 at 800 yards, total 94; J. A. Spry, 47, 47, 94; A. G. Robertson, 48, 46, 94; P. J. Pring, 50, 42, 92; H. W. Verrall, 46, 44, 90; A. T. Patrick, 43, 46, 89; I. Spry, 44, 45, 89; A. Sommerville, 46, 40, 86; W. H. Thompson, 42, 43, 85; A. C. Watson, 43, 41, 84; H. J. Verrall, 48, 36, 84, S. Griffiths, 42, 35, 77; R. AlcLeay, 46, 27, 73; T. Floyd, 38, 31, 69.
On adjustment with handicaps, Spry, Simmonds and Robertson take 3,2 and 1 points respectively, and Simmonds and Patrick win spoons.
