FAMILY EVICTED
LANDLORD SUES FOR RENT AND HOUSE “CAN’T GO ON FOR EVER” Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. A family which arrived in Wellington, a father, mother and eight children, after traversing most of the North Island by dray, was brought into the limelight today when Sir Kenneth Douglas sought possession of the house they occupy at Newtown, and rent owing. Defendant’s wife, Mrs. Wilson, explained that her husband was working yesterday and today on the waterfront. They had been unable to find another house and since entering the present one had been only able to pay two weeks’ rent. The magistrate said the family could not expect the landlord to go on that way for ever. He made an order for them to get out. within a week and for the rent, £8 2s 6d. He advised Mrs. Wilson to see the Charitable Aid Board or the Welfare people or something. Mrs. Wilson said they would not do anything. She had stated earlier that the Charitable Aicl Board wanted the family + o return to Auckland.
