In the Market Place

PLUMS FINISHED TOMATOES SHOW DECLINE A somewhat easier tone was apparent in sates in the City Markets today. Except for occasional lots, which were snapped up by buyers, plums were shown as finished. With heavy supplies coming forward, tomatoes showed a substantial decline in values. Apples, whjch continue to be plentifully supplied, are clearing at easier values, but pears, also offering in large numbers, are maintaining their values. After the easier raties ruling with the arrival of a fresh shipment recently, Californian oranges are regaining their high rates. Bananas are cheaper. Peaches are in short supply. Potatoes are maintaining their improved rates in the vegetable auctions. Quotations: FRUIT Peaches.—Choice coloured, 6s to Ss; cooking, 2s lid to 3s 6d.
