WIRTHS' CIRCUS
OPENING THIS EVENING ■Wirths’ Circus will open at the Old Dock Site this evening with a programme that easily eclipses all its predecessors. Wirtli Brothers have submitted many splendid programmes, but their enterprising catering for the amusement-loving public of Auckland on this occasion will be acknowledged by all who see the programme. With enormous expense, Wirth Brothers have, during their recent tour of the world, engaged the Lias Troupe of Six, who show the very latest that has been seen in tumbling and balancing, not only on the ground, but on the upturned feet of the partners. This troupe performed at the last Olympic Games in Amsterdam, where they all received gold medals presented "by her Majesty the Queen of Holland. . ■ Another balancing act is the Three Arconas. of which the star performer. Miss Betty Arcona, is most aptly called •‘the most fearless woman in the W cost of £ 5,000, Wirth Brothers have also bought the greatest performing pure white polar and brown bear act in the world, which is to be seen at every performance. The trapeze act of the s lying La Mars starts where most other performers in their line leave off, and thrill after thrill is given the public as Harry La Mar is doing bis double and triple somersaults, both forward and backward. Then there are Claudia Alba, the world s famous athlete, and the Great Mulldoon, who is now reappearing after an absence of some years, in a humorous falling act. Miss Eileen May, who is the only elephant trainer in the southern hemisphere. is performing an act with a huge herd of these animals, and Miss Gladys with her* beautiful black horse and 'also the five white horses, gives the oublie a splendid opportunity to see what can be done by continuous practice, patience, kindness and training of the animals. Then there are the Santey Duo, and Klarkoskies. the Russian riders, and Mr. Alfred Clarke performing a pleasant juggling act on horseback, and Miss Doris and Miss Madeline in another delightful horse act. Wirths* Circus will give ten evening performances, with matinees on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Louis Wolheim has been especially engaged for the role of Katozinsky in "All Quiet on the Western Front. A,, the same time comes the announcement of the engagement of Richard Alexander to play the gigantic p.at digger. Hale esthtis.
