THE DECEITFUL CASE
TROTTER WAS DOPED NO ACTION TAKEN Prc33 Association TIMARU, Saturday. In connection with the inquiry into the condition of Deceitful, who raced at the last meeting of the Timaru Trotting Club, the committee, after inquiry, came to the unanimous conclusion that Deceitful had been doped, but on the evidence it was decided to take no further action. [At the Timaru summer fixture on January It Deceitful, a starter for the tVaimate Trot, caused a lot of excitement before the race. The Nelson Bingen mare, while doing her preliminary, beforehand, as driver J. Bryce said afterward “like a lunatic." So bad was her behaviour that “Scotty” brought Her back to the birdcage and refused to have anything further to do with her for the race, and the mare was withdrawn from the event. A veterinary surgeon examined Deceitful closely and secured samples of her saliva. An inquiry was then opened and adjourned till a later date. Deceitful is owned by IV. J. Lowe, who won with her at Hastings last June, when she showed promise of developing into a high-class trotter. Later the mare was leased by Messrs. Deyell and Neale and was under the care of J. Bryce. At the time of the occurrence Bryce expressed the opinion that the trotter had been “got at.” —Abaydos.J MOUNTAIN HEATH’S WIN Press Association NAPIER, Saturday.
