MOTOR-CAR CAPSIZES
ACCIDENT AT BIRKENHEAD BOY SERIOUSLY INJURED Serious internal injuries were received by Albert Ben fell, aged 13, of Chelsea, and minor injuries by another hoy. Jack Nicholls, of Sheehan Street. Ponsonby, as the result of a collision between two motor-cars on the Albany Road, Birkenhead, yesterday afternoon. Benfell was removed to the Auckland Hospital, and underwent an operation last evening. His condition this morning is regarded as improved. The cars were travelling in the same direction and the collision occurred when the vehicle in front turned off the main road. The rear car. driven by Mr. IJ. T. Benfell. brother of Albert Benlell. struck the front of the other car and then capsized. The two boys were pinned beneath the cur and were only released with creat difficulty. The other four occupants escaped injury. Both lads were taken to the hospital after receiving medical attention from Dr. R. G. Dudding. After treatment Nicholls. who had a badly crushed hand, was able to go home. Mr. Ben fell’s car was extensively damaged, but the other car, driven by Mr. A Crossley, of Takapuna, escaped lightly.. .
