IN THE PATH OF THE WHIR LW l N D.—Estimated to have a speed of 100 miles an hour, a whirlwind swept down on Suva on the evening of Saturday, February 22. The ketch Helena, as shown above, was swept off the Government slip, where it was undergoing repairs for damage suffered in the December hurricane. The launch in the foreground was thrown some 30 feet from the shore and had its back broken. Considerable damage was done to buildings.
