STORING ONIONS
Where the onion crop is more than enough for immediate requirements the onions can be stored. Lift the bulbs without bruising, tie the stalks together in pairs, and hang them in a dry place. Do not let the bulbs touch or they will sweat and decay. When the stalks are thoroughly dry lay the onions on a slab or bag to allow all moisture to evaporate; after that they can be bagged. It is not wise, however, to mix onions which have grown badly and have not bulbed with the others. They are the bad keepers and should be used (by boiling, etc.) before they have withered.
