POSITION IN CANTERBURY Press AssocicztioJi CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. Most of the offerings on tlie local market this week have been of wheat, and most other lines have been more or less neglected. Tuscan wheat is being sold at 5s to 5s 9d on trucks, itnd at a few’ pence a bushel less for qualities which will not grade. There is more Hunters wheat about this season, and it is difficult to find buyers because of the large quantity offering. Growers are asking 6s, but buyers are offering 5s lOd to 5s lid on trucks. Growers of Pearl are still asking 6s Gd. on trucks. Fowl wheat is still being quoted at 5s 9id to 5s lOd for both prompt and forward delivery, f.0.b., sacks extra. The market for oats is a little weaker. A grade Cartons are quoted at 3s llsd for April-September, and 1? grade at 3s s£d. Algerians and Duns are hard to sell, owing to the importation into the Xorth Island of Australian and Tasmanian oats. Today’s quotations are: Algerian, 3s to 3s 3d; Duns, 4s 6d to 4s 9d. There are two prices for linseed, £ls and £l4 10s, the latter being for seed. Most of the linseed in Canterbury is grown under contract, the contract price this season being £ls. Prices onions are very discouraging. £3 5 s to £3 10s a ton, on trucks. The cocksfoot market is distinctly weaker, and merchants are finding it difficult to sell machine-dressed seed, which is quoted today at 13d. Potatoes are quoted at £ 4 12s 6d for April-May-June shipment. For further forward the market is a little firmer, Julys being quoted at £5 and Julv-August-September at £5 10s to £5 12s Od. f.o.b.s.i. MELBOURNE PRODUCE MARKET MELBOURNE, Friday. The following are today’s quotations on the Melbourne produce market: Wheat.—Nominal, 4s Sd. Flour.— £ll 5s to £ll 1 os^ Bran.— £7 15s. Pollard.— £ S ss. Oats.—3s to 3s 2d. Barley.—English. 3s lOd Maize.—6s 3d.
