DR. COOK RELEASED

BOGUS FINDER OF NORTH POLE SERVED FIVE YEARS Reed. 2 p.rn. OTTAWA, Friday. A report from Montreal states that Dr. Frederick Albert Cook, Arctic explorer, was released on parole today, after serving five of a 14-year sentence for embezzlement. He is allegedly penniless, having sworn a pauper's oath to escape a 12,000-dollar fine imposed with the sentence. Dr. Cook said: “I hardly believe I shall go to the Arctic again. I am getting old and I doubt if I could endure the terrible cold.”
