REFERENDUM ON MAY 17.— The New South Wales Cabinet has fixed May 17 as the date for holding a referendum on the plan for reforming the Legislative Council. —A. and N.Z. P.A. AUSTRALIAN COMMISSIONER IN U.S.—lt is understood the Australian Federal Ministry has decided not to recall Mr. Herbert Brookes, Australian Commissioner-General in the United States, whose term expires in 18 months’ time.—A. and N.Z.
