RAILWAYMEN STOP WORK
TAWA FLAT DEVIATION HELD UP Press association WELLINGTON, Thursday. Railway construction work on the Tawa Flat deviation ceased at midnight on Wednesday as a result of grievances the men engaged on the undertaking have against the Public Works Department. The matter was discussed at a largely attended stopwork meeting of the men at Johnsonville this morning, when it was decided that a deputation should wait on the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom, on his return from the north next week and place the grievances before him in an effort to get redress. The grievances relate to pay and conditions in general.
