“Tli© Girl in tl'ie Show, the taikingr and singing picture now at Newton's popular talkie theatre, the Empress, is a splendid story of stage life. The stars are Bessie Love and Raymond Haekett, who are supported by a number of trained vaudeville players and singers. A full supporting programme of shorter talkie items is also presented. “Puttin’ on the Ritz,” a story of vaudeville and backstage Broadway, features a number of original songs by Irving Berlin, written especially for the picture Joan Bennett plays the feminine lead opposite Riehman and the supporting cast includes James Gleason, Alleen Pringle, Lilyan Tashman jmd others.
