GOLD MONEY BEST

FINALS FOR PUKEKOHE TRAINING AT ELLERSLIE Pleasant weather prevailed for training at Lllerslie this morning, and for the final gallops lor the Franklin RacClu , meeting on Saturday the last work was not as interesting as expected. In addition to the course proper, with the pegs out 15 leet number three grass was also available! but the attractions were all on the lormer Lrack. The turf is in excellent order at present, being conduen e to last times, although this was of a <rtses 0t evidence in tne majority A. Kemp made his usual early appearance, and dispatched Gold Money over five furlongs, the mare covering the ground in tree and easy style to Unit is only occasionally seen at Eller?n?F th ?. Se days * Apart from the fact !niL h k from a- stand, which makes her figures all the better she v. as not thoroughly tested; in fact, the daughter of 1 aper Money was moving " 11 i Perfect treedom throughout, commg home the last half-mile in 50. She '•as lidden by L. Manson, thus carry--•ag just a few pounds over the weight i “VTfd, ller in Saturday’s sprint at i ukekohe. When served up in the six furlongs \\ l Shore a few' weeks ago, Gold Money tailed to show her true form, but she has been doing nicely' since and will only require to go ~to the post to attain the position of favourite at least. Respirator gave pointed illustration to his usefulness on a hard track, striding over six furlongs in 1.21. He was not unduly bustled, and has seemmgly done well since he competed at the Dargaville fixture. Respirator has shown flashes of form this season, without winning, sufficient, indeed, to encourage Trainer J. m. Buchanan persevering with him, but, the class J .to bo a bit short of town hau for him to win at present. salamander beat Oatalus over seven turlongs. and for five Lusoma had a short advantage over Tambourine, registermg 1.9 4-5. The former has been under a cloud, but is commencirig to pick up again, although she is

not showing tlie speed that characterised one or two of her eaxlier efforts. Tambourine is a sluggish worker who invariably does better in a race. Her full-sister. Lido, was responsible for similar traits. King Emerald, a Franklin Handicap candidate at the Franklin meeting on ►Saturday, encompassed a round in 2.b 4-5. and hit out nicely, too. He has been a disappointment to his admirers lately’, but in the event of rain he has a reasonable chance with the minimum. Who knows, but perhaps A. Kemp will complete the double —Gold Money and King Emerald. Hampton Park has no engagements at present, but F. Gilchrist is keeping him up to the mark with a view to impending racing. The Australian-bred youngster completed four furlongs down the back stretch in 53 1-5. and could have done better. Roman Pearl and Spring Abbey both of whom are nice and bright after their efforts at Te Aroha, w T ere partnered over five furlongs in 1.6 2-5. The former displayed more dash than Spring Abbey, but both acquitted themselves satisfactorily. Avon Court, Merry’ Lu and Fairy Belle were in company over five furlongs, and beginning as named, they were in the same order at the post, Avon Court registering 1.6 1-5. After breakfast Operatic covered six furlongs in 1.23, not being asked a question. She has not raced yet, but gives undoubted promise for a maiden. Sir Archie and Mon Star were paired from the five furlongs post, and both with light-weights, the former had no difficulty’ in clearing out from his companion, who has yet to win a race. Sir Archie appears in fine health at present, and he has only to repeat his Whangarei form to make it interesting for others in the Franklin Handicap. Number One Grass The improving Hannibal, and Gemlight had nothing between them with Kawainga a couple of lengths back a* the conclusion of five furlongs in 1-6 Taneriri had plenty- in reserve when he beat Wild Country- over five furlongs in 1.10. Norval Tea and Measurer strode over half a mile in 51 2-5. and over a short five Modest Boy and the General Latour—Sapling filly ran their last four in 53.
