MUD AS FERTILISER
UTILISING THAMES FLATS NOVEL SUGGESTION TO BOARD From Our Own Correspondent THAMES, Wednesday. A suggestion tliat the mud on the Thames flats might be used as a fertiliser was made to the Thames Harbour Board yesterday. In making the suggestion a Mangatarata settler, referring to the mud, said: “I suggest that you have it tested for its value as a fertiliser, and if it is lacking in anything that promotes the growth of pastures, add the missing ingredients, and you have a valuable product and a cheap harbour. If the scheme is any good I will show you a cheap method of reclaiming it.” The chairman, Mr. H. Lowe, said the suggestion might be a good ojie, and the board should have the mud tested at the School of Mines. It was decided to leave the- question to the Local Committee to deal with'.
