PATIENT NOW IMPROVING A child suspected to have contract tetanus was admitted to the Auckk Hospital early this week. As a resvt. of inoculation of anti-tetanic serum, tlv. child’s condition is now reported to be improving. Only eight cases of tetanus have been reported in the last 12 months. The medical officer of Health, Dr. T. J Hughes, stated that even the smallest wounds should be treated, the best antiseptic being a weak solution of tincture of iodine. It is possible for the tetanus germ to remain in the infected area for years, the bacilli being usually found in ground where garbage or street sweepings have been dumped.
