ROXY
“PAINTED FACES” The principal feature on the new programme to be presented at the Roxy Theatre from today is “Painted Faces" an entertaining drama of circus life, in which Joe E. Brown, the famous vaudeville artist, has the leading role. Brown is supported by Helen Foster, one of the principals of “Gold Diggers of Broadway,” Dorothy Gulliver, Barton Hepburn and Lester Cole. The film commences behind the scenes in a theatre, where the principal artist, “The Great Roderick,” is found murdered in his dressing-room. Buddy Barton, a fellow artist, who had been heard to threaten the man’s life, is discovered standing over the body. Circumstances point to his guilt, and in the subsequent trial he is found guilty without hesitation by the jury. A series of unforeseen events brings about his acquittal, however, and the film ends satisfactorily. Several diverting shorter pictures will also be shown.
