BRIDSON AGAIN

SETS NEW TIME IN 150 YARDS SWIM SUCCESS FOR MISS COUTTS Yet another New Zealand and Auckland record was mace by the Grammar Glub swimmer, Gordon Bridson, last evening at the North Shore Amateur Swimming Club’s carnival at the Tepid Baths. In covering 150yds ahead of R. Porteous and A. W. Raper in perfect style, the New Zealand champion over all distances clipped 6 2-5 s off the former record of lm 39 3-ss, made by L. L. Kronfeld, of Auckland. Bridson had absolutely no difficulty in winning the race and his performance was all the more creditable because Porteous and Raper were not able to trouble him after the first lap. In the 50yds Auckland girls’ championship, Miss Lilia Coutts, of Grammar. scored a narrow win from Mi«s Sybil Brown, of Mount Eden. The time did not compare with Miss Ena Stockley’s 28 2-ss, and much interest fell from the contest because of the absence of Misses Peggy Robertson and Marie Farquhar, who are on tour in the South Island.

MISS PIDGEON’S TIME Miss Gladys Pidgeon, of Waitemata, the finest girls’ breaststroke swimmer New Zealand has produced, swam in excellent style over 100 metres in Ini 425. The purpose was to set a time to be regarded as a New Zealand record No time existed previously. L. Beck set a record for the North Shore Club’s 50yds sprint, T. Lowe won the club backstroke race, and A. Spraggon was successful in the diving. Parnell won from Mount Eden in a hard-fought game of water polo. Great excitement was produced ! among tlio crowd, a highly satisfactory number for a club carnival, in the 300yds inter-club relay contest. Ponsonby held on to win by a touch from Mount Eden in the ninth lap. Results (G representing Grammar. W Waitemata; NS, North Shore; Par, Par-
