The trainer said the horse was as good as ever but was up against a tough proposition in Amounis, Phar Lap and Chide. Manawatu Entries The Manawatu Racing Club’s autumn meeting is fixed to be held on Wednesday and Thursday, March 26 and 27, and the programme in connection therewith is, as usual, cast on attractive lines. The leading handicap event on the first day is the Prince of Wales* Handicap of £4OO (one mile and a furlong), and the J. M. Johnston Memorial Handicap of £3OO (six furlongs) is the leading sprint race. The -A-vapuni Gold Cup, which is run over a mile and a-quarter at weight-for-age, carries a stake of £6OO (£SOO in specie and a cup valued at £100). The Tamatete Handicap of £SOO ill miles) is the leading event on the second day. Nominations close with the secretary, Mr. V. D. Dibble, Palmerston North, next Friday at 9 p.m. Forfeits for the Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (22nd) and the Manawatu Stakes (26th) also fall due next Friday at the same hour.
