HEAVY RAIN IN CENTRAL AUSTRALIA AIRDROME UNDER WATER Reed. 11 a.m. SYDNEY, Today. During a terrific thunderstorm at Gunaagai, a fireball landed on the back of a valuable cow which was incinerated. A grass fire also started, but was extinguished. More than 20in of rain has fallen at Tennant’s Creek, a district of Central Australia, since last Wednesday. It is still raining and the creek, which is usually a small stream, is now three miles wide. The water, however, has not yet reached the telegraph posts. In some places the flood waters are several feet deep. Heavy rain fell at the Forrest Airdrome, which is under water. Booking of train berths to Perth has been suspended. The West Australian Cricket Association is negotiating with W'est Australian Airways for transport of the Australian - cricket team from Adelaide to Perth to permit a three days’ fixture there to be proceeded with.
