RANGIRIRI REGATTA

KEEN OUTBOARD RACING EVENTS ON WAIKATO Rangiriri staged its annual regatta on the Waikato River on Saturday. The large attendance, which was much greater than that at last year’s fixture, again demonstrated the growth in popularity of the event. The Huntly natives’ string band played a number of selections during the day. Chief interest centred on the outboard races. Fourteen of these craft were taken to Rangiriri for the occasion and keen racing was seen. A course on the river approximately half a mile long had been marked out, making a lop of a mile for once round. Five outboard races were held, and resulted as follow: B Class Handicap, 3 miles. —Bonzo Jun., time, 10m ISs. 1; Pastime, 10m 245, 2; Miss Tamaki, 11m 12s, 3. Five entries. C and D Class Handicap, 3 miles.— Chief, 9m 14s, 1: Nymph, 9m 20s, 2; Ocean Mule, 9m 365, 3. Fight entries. B Class Handicap, 3 miles. —Pastime, 9m 425, 3: Bonzo, Jun., 9m 575, 2; Fleetun, 10m 225, 3. Five entries. C and D Class Handicap, 3 miles.— Chief, 9m ss, 1: Miss Hamilton, 9m 7s, 2; Silvertown Kid, 9m 9s, 3. Eight entries. General Handicap, 3 miles. —Marquette Pug, 1; Silvertown Kid and Miss Hamilton, dead-heat, 2. Five entries. Marquette Pug finished five seconds ahead of Silvertown Kid and Miss Hamilton.
