BAN ON AMATEURS

AT ST. PATRICK’S SPORTS The St. Patrick’s Day Sports Celebration Committee has been refused permission by the council of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association to hold amateur events at its meeting on March 15. Last week the Auckland Centre of the New Zealand Amateur Athletic Association granted the necessary permission, with a proviso that the New Zealand Council was acquainted of the fact that cycle races under the control of the Nejv Zealand Union of Cyclists were also being held on that day. The St. Patrick’s Hay Committee has been advised of the official position, which will, in all probability, mean the cancellation of amateur events.
