“BACHELORS’ DAY”
MAMGERE TENNIS CLUB The annual “Bachelors’ Day” of the Mangere East Tennis Club was held on the club's courts on Saturday afternoon. ~ - There was a large attendance oi members present, and a very enjoyable afternoon was spent in a mixed doubles handicap competition. During the afternoon, the men s committee served afternoon tea and ice cream to those present. Following are the results: First round: Miss Key and Is ash beat Miss 13. Newson and Thompson, 9—b; Miss Garland and K. Kay lost to Miss Solomon and Solomon, 4—-9; Miss o. Robertson and Fowlie beat Miss h. Keynolds and Taylor, 9—7; Mrs. Duncan and Duncan beat Miss Blandford and h iomberg, 9—4; Miss Brown and James beat Miss Connor and R. Pheasant, 9—2; Miss Thomas and Saussay beat Miss Connor and Enting, 9 —7. 0 _ Second round: Miss Solomon and Solomon beat Miss Kay and Nash, 9—4; Miss G Clark and Penman beat Miss Robertson and Fowlie, 9—B: Miss G. Newson sind A. Paine beat Miss Brindle and V. Pheasant, 9—7; Miss K. Reynolds and Cut held beat Miss Thomson and J. Key, 9 —6; Miss A. Crookes and L. Kay beat Miss R. Wilson and *S. Burns, 9—l; Miss Connell and Reader beat Mrs. Duncan and Duncan, 9 —7; Miss Brown and James beat Miss Thomas and Saussay, 9—l. Third Round. —Miss Solomon and Solomon beat Miss G. Clark and Penman, 9—6; Miss R. Reynolds and A. Cutfield beat 7)1 iss Newson and Paine. 9—3; Miss Crookes and L. Kay beat Miss P. Kerr and Chalmers, 9—6.
The semi-finals and finals will be played on a date to be arranged.
