WORN FOR 30 YEARS A remarkable testimony to the wearing qualities of a pair of dance shoes ! made by Messrs. G. A. Coles and i Co., Ltd., over 30 years ago is contained in the following letter from ilr. W. .Dobson, F.P.A., N.Z., public accountant, of JDannevirke. “In further reference to our conversation at your factory when I was in Auckland. I confirm the statement I then made, that in the year 1000 I was managing for the late Mr. A. P. Agnew, general storekeeper, at Tolaga Bay, and handling Kapai Boots. In that year I took out of stock a pair of evening shoes, which I have been wearing ever jsince. “I have worn them constantly to dances and to lodge meetings for 30 years, ever since and they are, as you daw when I showed them to you, in excellent repair, with the exception that they are somewhat thin in the sole. "I have no hesitation in stating that these shoes constitute the best testimonial to the quality of your wellknown brand to be found in New Zealand.” The “Kapai" brand referred to is exactly the same as the famous “Patriata’’ brand so well-known at present, Messrs. Coles and Co. having changed the name of the brand a few years ago. • * • ■■MADE SPECIALLY FOR” An interesting article in the “Australasian Manufacturer” deals with the habit of some shops of selling goods marked "Made specially for Blank and Co.. Sydney and Melbourne,” and urges that the brand should be “Made in England for” or “Made in Australia for,” so that the buyer knows what he is getting. The idea could well be adopted in New Zealand. * * • HALL OF INDUSTRIES A permanent display of Auckland’s manufactures will open in the Queen’s Arcade Building toward the end of the month.
