CONFRENCE NEXT WEEK
CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH IMPORTANT DISCUSSIONS The annual conference of the Congregational Union of New Zealand will begin in the Beresford Street Congregational Church on Wednesday next and will be continued daily until Wednesdaj*, March 12. The general theme of the eveningmeetings, which will be open to the public, will be “The unchanging faith of a changing world.” The chairman of the union, Mr. Frank de T-isle of Xapier, will preside. The opening day will be occupied with general business and the delivery of the president’s address. On the following afternoon a conference will be held on "The Church and War,” and at the public meeting in the evening the Rev. Lionel B. Fletcher will discuss “Modern Substitutes for God.” A conference concerning youth work is set down for Friday afternoon ajid a talk on “The Slide to Paganism*' in the evening. Saturday will be given over to a session for ministers and a motor outing. The meetings will be resumed on Monday, when a young people’s meet- " ill be held at 7.30 p.m. Church attendance will be discussed on Tuesday afternoon, and an address on the same subject will follow- in the evening. t ollowing a business session on the Wednesday morning and afternoon the union sermon will be preached at 7.30 p.m. by tlie Rev. Albert Mead, M.A.
