POWER BOARD CEREMONY

CHANGE-OVER TO ARAPUNI CURRENT THURSDAY’S ARRANGEMENTS The official change-over to hydroelectric power from Arapuni will take place at 3 p.m. at the King’s Wharf station next Thursday. The occasion also marks the completion of 21 years’ service in the supply of electricity by the Auckland Electric-Power . Board. Arrangements have now been completed by the chairman of the board. Mr. W. J. Holdsworth, and the general manager, Air. R. H. Bartley. When the official change-over is made steam plant will be closed and will only be utilised as a stand-by plant. The closing ceremony and the switching-on of Arapuni power, which will bring into operation a portion of the automatic sub-station at King’s Wharf, will be performed by the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. E. A. Ransom. Later a party of specially invited guests will be conducted over the board’s new buildings in Quieen Street. The guests include the Minister of Public Works, the Hon. E. A Ransom; Mr. J. A. Nash, M.P., chairman of the Electric-Power Boards’ Association; and the Mayor, Mr. George Baildon.
