BYRD’S APPRECIATION

NEW ZEALANDERS’ WORK IN ANTARCTIC “DEBT OF GRATITUDE” Press Association WELLINGTON, Wednesday, The following message has been received by the Prime Minister from Rear-Admiral Richard Byrd: “All the members of the expedition join in thanking you for your thoughtful and hospitable message. It is fitting at this time that I should tell yon that the New Zealand members of the expedition have done very splendid work, and I wish to give them their share of the credit for the work which was accomplished in the face of hazards and great difficulty. This is only another one of the many instances where this expedition owes the people of New Zealand an everlasting debt of gratitude.”
