BOXERS CONFIDENT
MARINES GREET SCOTT EFFUSIVELY SHARKEY FULLY FIT NEW YORK, Tuesday. Phil Scott, the English boxer who is to meet Jack Sharkey, the Boston heavy-weight, at Miami, Florida, on Thursday, went through some brisk training work there today for the benefit of some visiting sailors and marines from the British cruiser Durban, and two Canadian destroyers. Scott was effusively greeted by some of his friends of the Royal Marines. Loud cheers greeted his promise to uphold the traditions of the marines in the coming contest.
Shaikey contented himself today with light exercises. He is very satisfied with his condition and confident that he will quickly defeat Scott. In that view Sharkey is supported by the majority of boxing enthusiasts who are gathering at Miami to witness the bout. The public, for the most part, remains more or less uninterested, and there is no excitement.
