YEAR’S GAOL FOR OLD OFFENDER WOMAN'S BAD COMPANY “For the sake of our city she must be nut away.” commented Major Annie Cordon Probation Officer, when Elizabeth Carswell was charged at the Police Court this morning with being a rogue and vagabond. She was sentenced to 1° months' imprisonment. Carswell, described as a domestic, aged 50, was charged with being a roguo and a vagabond, having insuffiroguo au ( Eu pport and having bee'll previously convicted of being idle an According rl to Constable Stevens, the woman was a nuisance and there had been numerous complaints about her behaviour. she kept bad company and was always to be seen about h °Mator Gordon urged that she had been given every chance. Remarking that the woman bad 5S nrevious convictions and nad just comnleted a term of three months, Mr. F Hunt S.M., imposed a term of 12 months' imprisonment. He agreed With the probation officer that such a term was necessary "for tne sake of the town."
