SERVICES RECOGNISED BY A.C.A. A fine tribute to the services which he has rendered to cricket in Auckland as professional playercoach to the Auckland Cricket Association. was paid to the Sussex man, A. F. Wensley, at the weekly meeting of the management committee of the Auckland Cricket Association last evening. The chairman. Mr. E. E. Naldcr, handed to Mr. Wensley a case of pipes, on behalf of the association, in appreciation of the i efficient manner in j which Mr. Wensley had entered into hi»s work. “The association expresses every satisfaction with you in your work,” Mr. Nalder continued. “As far as an example to younger players is concerned, one has only to look to the standard which you set in the Auckland-M.C.C. game.” The chairman hoped that Mr. Wensley would smoke the pipes sometimes and* think of the happy days he had spent in Auckland. lie wished * Mr. and Mrs. Wensley and their daughter a good trip Home and hoped that Mr. Wensley would have a good year in England. Mr. P. Shaw (Eden), a member of the management committee’s coach committee, said that it was the opinion of all that Wensley had carried out his duties in the most exemplary rrranner. Mr. N. C. Snedden (Ponsonby). a member of the association’s representative selection committee, endorsed tlio remarks which had been made by the other speakers. The coach, in reply, said he appreciated very much the presentation ait«l remarks which had been made about him. “I -have tried to <do my best, and nobody can do more,” ho said. T came here to say good-bye. and whether or not that is so, depends, of course, on yourselves. I thank you all on behalf of my wife arid myself,” ho concluded. Wensley leaves Auckland this afternoon with tlio team £01; Gisborne, and after playing in the Plunket Shield match at Wellington sails for Home.
