AT PAEROA

OHINEMURI J.C. ANNUAL—NOMINATIONS DUE TODAY Considerable interest is being aroused i at the approaching meeting of the ! Ohinemuri Jockey Club, which is to be j staged at Paeroa on Saturday and Monday (St. Patrick’s Day), March 15 and 17. The course is in excellent order for this period of the year, and with plenty of rain the tracks have not hardened up to any extent, a state of affairs that will be greatly appreciated by owners and trainers of hurdlers and steeple- J chasers. With fine, warm weather from now on the going should be ideal. A fine programme has been drawn up, and this has evoked most favourable comment, for np less than .£3,800 is being contributed by way of stakemoney. Principal of the races is the | Ohinemuri Cup, of *£6oo, run over a six-furlong course, and this should attract the best handicap performers. In addition to the open class, hacks and two-year-olds are well catered for, while there is a hurdle and steeplechase each day. As a rule the jumping events at Paeroa are a feature of the meetings held there. Entries for all events close at S p.m. on Wednesday next, February 26, with the secretary, Mr. H. Poland, Paeroa, or with Messrs. Blomfield and Coy.. High Street, Auckland.
