TAURANGA NOTES

The monthly meeting of the Chamber of Commerce was held on Monday evening. It was decided to ask the Mayor to convene a public meeting to consider what steps should be taken to restore the Gate Pa battle site. The Government is to be asked to straighten out the severe bends on the Tauranga side of the Kaimai road with relief workers. The businessmen are to be consulted with regard to holding “a Dominionmade goods week.” The chairman of the county council, Mr. Sinclair, stated that good work was being done on the direct road to Rotorua, via Aka Aka. Arrangements are to be made for receiving the Taranaki farmers on their tour of the Bay of Plenty in May.
