VEHICULAR FERRIES

COMPLAINTS AT NORTHCOTE The -vehicular service to Northcote was discussed at the meeting of the Korthcot© Borougli Council held last evening. The Mayor, Mr. A. E. Greenslade, presided. The subject was introduced by Cr. F Wilson, who cited several cases in which motorists, tradesmen and carriers’ lorrries were left behind at the Nortlicote Wharf owing to the vehicular traffic boat being unable, after loading up at Birkenhead, to accommodate the traffic offering. He moved that the Devonport Ferry Company’s attention be drawn to the unsatisfactory position. Cr. C. W. Taylor, who seconded the motion, also adversely criticised the inadequacy of the service and suggests that specific cases be quoted to the company in support of the complaint. Other members of the council having also endorsed the complaints, it was eventually decided to forward details of specific cases to the Ferry Company.

The discussion was closed by the Mayor remarking that complaints regarding individual cases, if lodged with the secretary of the Auckland Hai- | hour Bridge Association, would also re--1 ceive attention.
