EXPRESS MAROONED
THRILLS FOR PASSENGERS IN FORREST FLOOD DAMAGED RAILS CROSSED Reed. Noon. PERTH, Today. Passengers by the Great Western express arrived at Kalgoorlie after being delayed at Forrest for three days by floods. All insisted that it was a miracle that no serious accident occurred. As the train was approaching Forrest on Wednesday the passengers were awakened by a terrific jolt, but the guard applied the brakes and the train passed safely over the damaged rails. When daylight broke water could be seen rushing over the section just passed, while ahead was a lake of water on the eastern side of the Forrest lines which were suspended four feet in the air. Water between Forrest and Loongana covers the lines to a depth of two feet, and probably will remain for months.
