FATAL DEAFNESS CURE
BOXER’S LEAP TO DEATH PARACHUTE FAILS TO OPEN SAN FRANCISCO, Sunday. A prominent welter-weight boxer, Fred Mahan, who was a deaf mute, arranged to leap from air airplane and to come down with a parachute, thinking that this might restore his hearing. When tie airplane was at an altitude of 5,000 feet Mahan jumped off, hut the parachute failed to open and he was killed.
