SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION AT MAMAKU ACCIDENT TO COMPETITOR | From Our Oxen Correspondent ROTORUA, Monday. The Mamaku Sports Club held a very successful meeting on Saturday, the weather being fine and the attendance large. It was unfortunate that Mr. Jack Rodger, a well-known and popular figure in sport, slipped while attempting a high jump. He fell heavily and suffered a broken arm. He was attended to by a visitor. Miss Sprout, who placed the arm in splint fe i prior to the injured man being conveyed some 14 miles to Rotorua. Some keen competition was witnessed in the various events. The Rotorua Municipal Band enlivened proceedings with a splendid programme. Results are as follow; BUSHCRAFT EVENTS Local Maiden Chop, 12In Standing.— F. Hearne, 1; T. Taua, 2; H. Tom. 3. Standing Chop, 12In.—M. Spellars, 1; C. Wilson, 2; T. Taua, 3. There were 22 entries for this event and some pretty chopping was seen. Costello, giving 2.0 s to McKenzie, showed a stump as smooth as glass. Mamaku Chop, 14In Standing.—B. Healey, 1; E. Jones. 2: C. Wilson. 3. Double-handed Saw, 14In.
